Frequency-Domain Nonlinear Estimation and Equalization Using Intra-Symbol Averaging for 40-Gb/s/wavelength LR-PON

Abstract

A frequency-domain nonlinear equalization (FD-NE) method utilizing intra-symbol averaging estimation is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for 40.08-Gbit/s OFDM-IM-DD LR-PON over 60-km SSMF, which reduces the training overhead by 33.3% and improves the nonlinear equalization performance.
