Effect of grain sizes on modal and polarization properties of laser-diode-pumped microchip ceramic lasers

Abstract

Modal and polarization properties of laser-diode-pumped YAG ceramic lasers possessing different average grain sizes were examined. Linearly-polarized, single-frequency TEM00 mode operations were obtained in micro-grained ceramic lasers whose average grain sizes are a few micrometers.
