Abstract
The new class of transition-metal doped zinc chalcogenides, 1,2 and in particular Cr:ZnSe at tract a lot of attention of researchers since mid90s as broadly tunable continuous-wave (CW)3,4 and diode-pumped lasers operating around 2.5 μm.5,6 However, another member of the II–VI compounds family CrZnS1,2,7 has yet remained barely studied as a laser medium possibly due to the lack of availability of the good optical quality single crystals.
