Abstract
In recent years, 2.4-Gbit/s optical transmission systems based on NNI international standards under CCITT have been undergoing active development.1,2 At the same time, broadband ISDN has come into existence. As user data capacity expands from 64 kG/s (current) to 150 Mbit/s, systems with ~2000 times the data transmission/switching capability will be required. This will call for higher speed, greater operating scale, and lower power consumption.
