Abstract
Currently, there is a strong need for practical and inexpensive wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) sources, as WDM systems are becoming relevant to many aspects of optical telecommunications, such sources will enable spreading WDM technologies to metropolitan area networks and local access applications, as well as for long-distance transmission and networking. In today’s WDM systems, the most commonly used sources are single wavelength distributed feedback (DFB) lasers.
