Abstract

The emission wavelength of tunable semiconductor lasers based on grating distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) mirrors with a comb-like reflection spectrum have been shown to switch or quasi-continuously tune in a region about 100 nm1 and continuously tune in 62 nm,2 which is very desirable for wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) optical communication systems.
