Abstract

Effect of polymer concentration and composition on the electro-optic properties of blue phase liquid crystal (BPLC) composites is investigated. By increasing the polymer concentration, a more stable structure and faster response time are obtained, while keeping a low hysteresis (~3%). The major tradeoff is the increased operating voltage. Monomer ratio also plays an important role on the stability of the polymer-stabilized BPLC.
