Steady-state spatial screening solitons in photorefractive materials with an external applied field

Abstract

Recent work on spatial solitons in photorefractive media has shown theoretically and experimentally that the application of an external field to these materials permits long- lived, but transient, solitons.1-4 A related study has shown that photovoltaic materials (such as LiNbO3) may support bright and dark steady-state planar solitons.5
