Harmonically Mode-Locked Quantum Cascade Lasers for Mid-Infrared Frequency Comb Generation

Abstract

The single-mode to multimode transition in standing-wave quantum cascade lasers exhibits a harmonically mode-locked regime skipping cavity modes. The large sideband separation unravels a new mechanism for frequency comb generation seeded by the RNGH instability.
