Plasmonic “Diode” for Optical Field Rectification

Abstract

We propose an idea for a lumped nanocircuit element that can effectively act as a “diode”, rectifying optical field displacement currents. This element can be formed by juxtaposing an epsilon-negative nanostructure with a nonlinear element.
