Enhanced Coupling between Optical and Sound Waves via Ultra-Slow Light

Abstract

We demonstrate interaction of acoustic and electromagnetic waves when the light group velocity is comparable to the speed of sound in the medium. Large conversion at the sound frequency is observed.
