Abstract

A novel, spectrum-efficient and scalable optical transport network architecture called spectrum-sliced “elastic optical path” network (SLICE) is presented. The SLICE architecture enables sub-wavelength, super-wavelength, multiple-rate data traffic accommodation, and elastic variation of allocated resources in a highly spectrum-efficient manner.
