Abstract

We discuss the impact of fiber nonlinearity on the transmission performance of coherent optical orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) in both single-channel and wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) transmission systems. Recently developed techniques to mitigate nonlinear impairments in CO-OFDM transmission are reviewed.
