Abstract

A novel optical single-sideband DD-OFDM system based on balance receiver is proposed and demonstrated. With elimination of inter-modulation distortion (IMD) near the optical carrier, our system achieves spectrum efficiency about 1.54 bps/Hz with 4QAM mapping and CSPR is improved by 3 dB with negligible EVM penalty.
