Digital Timing Recovery Combined with Adaptive Equalization for Optical Coherent Receivers

Abstract

We propose a new scheme that adds a butterfly-structured adaptive equalizer in all-digital timing recovery loop to complete synchronization, equalization and polarization de-multiplexing simultaneously. It resolves the incompatible problems that adaptive equalization requires synchronous signal, timing-error detector requires compensated signal. Finally, we demonstrate the feasibility of the scheme by simulation.
