Abstract

We report a new differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) receiver design which utilizes a single demodulator and can receive polarization division multiplexed signals. This system provides less than 3 dB power penalty at bit-error rate (BER) of 10−9 after 60 km of optical fiber transmission.
