Investigation of a cladding-etched thin-core fiber modal interferometer and its application for refractive index sensing

Abstract

A cladding-etched thin-core fiber modal interferometer is proposed and theoretically investigated. Numerical simulations of the light propagation performance are carried out. The results render this structure as an unltrasensitive refractive index sensor.
