High sensitivity refractive index sensor based on multimode fiber coated with an axisymmetric metal grating layer

Abstract

This paper reports on a novel fiber surface plasmon-based sensor with a metal grating layer. Simulation results show that the sensor can achieve a maximum sensitivity of 13000nm/RIU in the refractive index range from 1.3 to 1.4.
