Light-Tree Establishment for Optical Multicasting in Flexible Optical WDM (FWDM) Networks

Abstract

Multicast-enabled FWDM network architecture is introduced and a naturally-inspired algorithm is proposed for the light-tree establishment problem. The algorithm improves spectral efficiency by at least 22% and 17% compared to fixed and flexible-grid solutions respectively.
