Abstract

A new method of realizing athermal AWGs based on silicon nanowire waveguides is presented. AWG’s slab regions are utilized as temperature compensators, using silicone as upper-cladding. The temperature dependence of silicon AWGs is eliminated with a relatively large fabrication tolerance.
