Equivalent expression of a Class of Timing Phase Estimator Employing Second-Order Statistics

Abstract

We prove analytically and numerically that four non-data-aided symbol timing estimators employing second order statistics for optical coherent receivers are all approximately equivalent. Simulation results further confirm their equivalence in terms of the estimation variances and BER.
