Abstract
The aim of this study is to present a multifunctional nanoplatform which consists of upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and photosensitizer Zinc (II) phthalocyanine (ZnPc) for deep tumor PDT. A folate-modified amphiphilic chitosan (FASOC) was coated on the surface of UCNPs and provide an energy resonsance transfer system between UCNPs and photosensitizers. The toxicities and targeting capabilities of the nanoplatform were in vitro and in vivo evaluated. The production of singlet oxygen in cancer cells and tumor volumes in mice were measured to assess the PDT efficacy. Results indicate that the multifunctional nanoplatform is a promising PDT agent for deep tissue tumor treatment.
