Optimal Regenerator Sharing for Lightpath Protection in 100G Optical Networks

Abstract

This paper proposes a novel lightpath protection scheme that maximizes regenerator sharing together with an optimization algorithm for backup path pre-computation. Test results suggest more than 20% regenerator savings over shared backup path protection.
