Ultra-low loss fiber for 100G-based trans-oceanic transmission

Abstract

In order to realize trans-oceanic high capacity transmissions, the lowering of transmission loss of optical fiber is crucially important. In this paper, recent realization of pure- silica-core fibers having 0.15dB/km at 1550nm is discussed.
