A Design Method of Freeform Optical Surface Using the Mapping Obtained from Supporting Ellipsoids Algorithm

Abstract

A method based on the mapping of supporting ellipsoids is proposed for the design of smooth freeform optical surface lenses to achieve uniform illumination distributions. The RSD of 0.05 of the illumination and the light utilization efficiency of 98% are achieved for a square target.
