Abstract

Finite-size high-contrast gratings (F-HCGs) and their applications are studied. F-HCGs have a low-Q resonant-guided mode, reducing mirror bandwidth for VCSELs. This mode enables additional applications for integrated VCSEL-HCG-based optical sensors.
