Coherent BOTDA with Phase Modulated Probe Light and IQ Demodulation

Abstract

Coherent BOTDA with phase modulated probe light is proposed and demonstrated. Brillouin gain spectrum (BGS) information is amplitude modulated on the GHz frequencies to reduce baseband noise perturbations and increase the spatial resolution to 2-meter.
