Mode Converter with Polymer Long-Period Waveguide Grating

Abstract

We propose a mode converter between the two lowest-order core modes based on a polymer-waveguide long-period grating. Our fabricated device shows a conversion efficiency of 99% at ~1550 nm with a thermal tuning sensitivity of ~5 nm/°C.
