Low-power 20Gb/s modulator with an integrated loop mirror

Abstract

The large signal characterization of a loop mirror Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) is reported. We demonstrate that this device is capable of 20 Gb/s modulation rate with reduced power requirements in comparison to a conventional MZI.
