OSNR penalties for non-zero skew in space-division multiplexed transmission link with self-homodyne detection

Abstract

We experimentally investigate the impact of non-zero signal-PT skew in SDM links using self-homodyne detection, finding that nanosecond delays can strongly impact performance with MHz transmitter linewidths, but aided by shorter carrier phase recovery block-lengths.
