We report fractional orbital angular momentum (OAM) dense mode-division multiplexing (DMDM) assisted by 2×2 MIMO equalization in free-space optical communications. Fractional OAM multiplexing communications even with a small OAM channel spacing of 0.2 are demonstrated in the experiment.
