Experimental demonstration of an FPGA-based optical communication system using space-shift modulation

Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate a 100-m-long real-time Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)-based optical communication system using space-shift modulation. We use this system to successfully transmit three pictures and measure the bit error rate (BER) performance by introducing extra noise.
