Abstract

we propose a twist sensor by employing a Sagnac interferometer based on polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (PM-PCF). In order to improve the torsion sensitivity, a short length of PM-PCF is processed by CO2 laser. The maximum sensitivity can reach up to 0.55nm/° after post-processing, which is 3 times higher than unprocessed.
