Abstract

In this paper, the influence of initial phase and power of pumps on phase transfer curves are investigated based on the analytic solution of degenerate FWM coupled mode equations under pump depletion cases. The results show that the best performance of phase fluctuation suppression can be achieved by optimizing the fiber length or pump power, and for the case of short fiber, the optimized initial pump power is inversely proportional to the fiber length. We design an all-optical 510m-long fiber 8PSK regenerator with the phase fluctuation suppression ratio of 4.5, and the symbol error rate can be reduced by two orders of magnitude.
