Abstract

In this paper, we report a 1.55µm four wavelengths loss-coupled distributed feedback (DFB) laser arrays with different ridge waveguide widths and tilt angles with respect to the gratings. A stable single-mode operation with side mode-suppression-ratio greater than 49 dB for all channels and an accurate channel spacing of 3.1 nm have been achieved with full considerations of the change of the effective index, confinement factor and coupling coefficient as well as the associated spatial hole burning effect along the laser cavity caused by varying ridge width and ridge tilt angle.
