In-Situ Optical Microfabrication Technology for Novel Fiber-Optic Devices and Sensors

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

One of appealing trends in the development of optical fiber-based devices is to integrate with emerging functional materials to exploit new optical fiber devices and sensors. Here, we present a specialty optical microfabrication technology for in-situ printing of functional polymeric materials on the side- and end-surface of optical fibers to develop novel fiber-optic devices and sensors. On-fiber printed hydrogel grating sensors and suspended-mirror devices will be demonstrated.
