Graphene-Induced Losses for Cladding Modes of Optical Fibers

Abstract

We demonstrate theoretically and experimentally that graphene-induced losses for the cladding modes propagating along a graphene-coated fiber increase with the surrounding refractive index, which could be explored for the realization of intensity-based refractive-index sensors.
