Waveguides and Hyperbolic Materials

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Hyperbolic metamaterials are anisotropic materials of which the product of the eigenvalues of the permittivity matrix is negative. They have interesting properties such as that all extra-ordinary polarized plane waves are propagating, i.e. for this polarization there are no evanescent waves. I will discuss some interesting consequences for waveguides that are made of these materials
