Contribution of electrostriction and radiation pressure to Kerr-like nonlinearities in silicon pedestal waveguides

Abstract

We experimentally and theoretically study the Kerr nonlinear-index coefficient of air-cladding silicon pedestal waveguides and find an enhancement due to the light-sound interaction compared to that of conventional silicon-on-insulator waveguides.
