Abstract

we present a highly sensitive temperature sensor based on a novel Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) with the technology of tapered-drawing and arc discharge. The tapered MZI will form two shuttle shape areas with discontinuous fiber core, in which the fundamental mode light can be transformed to the higher-order modes. When the temperature changes, the higher-order modes light will have a high sensitivity to the environment temperature, which is up to 1.12 nm / °C.
