Visible Light Communication based Intelligent Traffic Light System: Designing and Implementation

Abstract

Visible light communication (VLC) is one of the most promising solutions for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). This paper proposes a VLC based ITS application for traffic light. The proposed scheme introduces a VLC communication system between trucks and traffic light, which can control and adjust traffic light signals to ensure trucks (lorry fleet) passing through intersection without deceleration or emergency braking. A demo system is designed and implemented finally.
