Abstract

Combined nonlinear equalizations, noise cancellations, and 2-state MLSE enabled a record 18-dB OSNR sensitivity and >8-dB OSNR improvement at BER=3.8×10-3 compared to linear equalization case for a 56-Gb/s EML-modulation and coherent detection 320-km SMF link.
