Enhanced polarization optical time domain reflectometry with Stimulated Brillouin scattering suppression

Abstract

A coherent P-OTDR system with phase modulation is proposed and demonstrated to suppress Stimulated Brillouin scattering and improve the probe power. With multiple-band probe, over 6 dB SNR improvement is achieved in 35 km sensing fiber.
