Convolutional Neural Network Equalizer for Short-reach Optical Communication Systems

A novel convolutional neural network equalizer has been proposed and demonstrated for eliminating linear and nonlinear distortions. The BER performance of 64-Gbit/s PAM4 signal over 137-km SSMF can be achieved below 7%FEC threshold.
