Abstract

In an investigation of the temporal modulation transfer function (De Lange curve), Kelly found three peaks instead of one and suggested that these peaks are related to the three mechanisms B, G, and R of color vision (ref 1). Although the existence of these peaks was statistically confirmed it is still unclear whether they relate to the color mechanisms (ref 2). If this relation does exist at least two facts would be proved: (a) the De Lange curve of each isolated mechanism should have only one peak and (b) these peaks should be located at 5, 10 and 20 Hz respectively.
