Compact, Direct-doubled Diode Lasers for Visible Light Applications

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Diode-lasers that are frequency converted into the visible via harmonic generation can now reach performance levels that make them attractive alternatives to solid-state and gas lasers. The inherent low-noise, compact size, stability and efficiency also make them well-suited to commercial applications. Here we describe green and blue wavelength diode-based lasers and how they can improve performance in applications as diverse as biomedical imaging techniques and lighting.
