Yb:CaF2 grown by Liquid Phase Epitaxy

Abstract

Ytterbium doped CaF2 crystalline layers were grown for the first time by using the liquid phase epitaxy technique. Structural and spectroscopic properties show that the obtained layers are very close to the Yb3+:CaF2 bulk crystals.
