Crystal growth and Spectroscopy of Cerium doped CaSc2O4

Within cerium doped CaSc2O4 single crystals a ligand to metal Ce4+ ➔ Ce3+ charge transfer absorption band is identified. Crystal growth and its influence on the incorporation of different charged Cerium ions are discussed.
