Abstract
Multipulsing (controlled pulse bursts) and temporal pulse shaping are emerging as means of fine-tuning material structuring or improving the work quality without change of delivered pulse energy, average power, or moving to shorter wavelengths. In this report, we discuss various examples of multipulsing and burst control using a MOPA pulsed fiber laser operating at 1064 nm. Pulses are dynamically configured to produce fast bursts at tens of MHz, with temporal envelope in the range from below 10 ns to hundreds of ns. These bursts are collectively triggered and generated as if they were a single triggered pulse, and can be repeated at pulse repetition frequencies form single-shot to hundreds of kHz.
