Detection of toxic chemicals in hand sanitizers using near-infrared spectroscopy

Abstract

Many alcohol-based hand sanitizer products contain toxic ethanol substitutes. In this work, we demonstrate the application of near-infrared spectroscopy for the detection of methanol and 1- propanol in hand sanitizer using partial least square regression (PLSR).
